The General Henry Knox Museum

Description

This is an artist's rendering of "Montpelier", the home of General Henry Knox, of Thomaston, ME. This piece was created in 1906.
The original Montpelier was built in 1794 and was the home of General Knox from 1794-1806. Various members of the Knox family lived in this mansion until 1854 when Montpelier was sold to James S. Creighton. The building was razed in 1871 to make way for the Knox and Lincoln Railroad in Thomaston. The current Montpelier mansion was erected in 1930.
